The Modern Swallow carries forward Ben Aipa’s original 1972 swallowtail design into the modern era. It’s a fusion of classic aesthetics and contemporary performance—made for surfers who respect the roots of high-performance surfing while seeking modern functionality.

With a slightly filled-in, smoothed-out vintage outline, low apex rails, and a generous vee-to-double concave out the tail, the Modern Swallow delivers a balanced ride—speed, control, and smooth transitions from waist-high peelers to overhead punch.

Designed to be ridden as a quad, it’s also wide open for experimentation. Twin, twinzer, 2+1, thruster, or single fin—this board adapts to your vibe and the waves in front of you.

In 2012, Ben had decided to pass the Aipa Surfboards name to his son Duke. Duke now carries on shaping his fathers designs and creating his own Modern versions of his fathers vintage shapes, alternative craft and performance boards.
